In response to a U.S. Department of Energy Request for Information (RFI) on Critical Minerals, NASEO submitted suggestions on various critical mineral and rare earth element extraction, recovery, and processing aimed at meeting the nation’s energy security and economic development needs. With more than a dozen State Energy Offices engaged in various aspects of critical minerals policies and actions, NASEO’s RFI response includes examples from such states as West Virginia, Indiana, Michigan, Wyoming, Texas, and Missouri. In addition, and as noted in the RFI response, NASEO released a Critical Energy-Related Minerals report for use by State Energy Office in 2024.
