On January 16, 2025, the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality State Energy Office launched its High-Efficiency Electric Home Rebate Program (HEEHR) and Home Energy Performance-Based Whole-House Rebates Program (HOMES), known as Energy Saver North Carolina.
The program provides households earning at or below 150 percent Area Median Income (AMI) up to $14,000 per dwelling unit. Income-qualified households are also eligible for up to $16,000 per dwelling unit for whole home energy upgrades through the HOMES program. The rebate amount that a household may expect to receive through North Carolina’s HOMES program depends on household income as well as the estimated energy savings. North Carolina plans to expand the program across the state throughout 2025 and interested residents statewide can apply now. The program has received over 2,000 applications to date.
