The Washington Climate Partnership (WCP) is hosting a series of virtual meetings to request public input on a new Washington state Comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CCAP) from February through April. Seven meetings will cover different sectors of the state economy, which include: Waste and Materials, Electric Power, Buildings, Natural and Working Lands, Transportation, Agriculture, and Industry. The final version of the CCAP — currently in development by the WCP — will describe specific actions Washington can take within each sector to meet the state’s long-term climate goals.
All meetings will be held via Zoom and are open to the public. A calendar of events is available on the WCP website.
The CCAP is a planning document created to help Washington meet state and federal climate and energy mandates through 2050 by evaluating key greenhouse gas sources and sinks in Washington and developing key strategies and measures to effectively reduce emissions. This document is under development and is expected to be finalized by December 2025. The project is funded by the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant, a federal grant program through the Inflation Reduction Act and administered by the Environmental Protection Agency.
The WCP is a statewide collaborative effort involving the Washington State Department of Commerce and the Washington State Department of Ecology, tribal governments, county and local governments, and citizen groups focused on short and long-term planning to meet Washington’s climate goals.
