The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) hosted the 2024 National Energy Codes Conference in Sacramento, California on May 6 through May 8, 2024. More than 280 attendees from the energy codes community gathered for informative trainings and engaging networking opportunities.

Over 50 speakers covered a wide range of energy code topics, including the latest in federal funding, new decarbonization technologies in the codes, and state and local programs. Visit the 2024 National Energy Codes Conference website for session presentations.

Andrew McAllister, Commissioner of the California Energy Commission and NASEO Past Chair and Board Member, was the Keynote Speaker at the conference. He described the successes and lessons learned from California’s initiatives to decarbonize its buildings.

NASEO co-facilitated the kick-off of the National Energy Codes Collaborative a day before the conference, an initiative led by ACEEE. The National Energy Codes Collaborative facilitates collaboration and information sharing on energy code development and implementation. NASEO is leading the State Implementation Technical Advisory Group, which will support states and their partners working to overcome challenges to code adoption and implementation such as capacity building, sustainable funding, stakeholder engagement, compliance, and workforce availability. Interested NASEO members can sign up for a Technical Advisory Group here.
