On December 18, 2023, NASEO released two resources to support State Energy Offices, State Departments of Transportation, and other state agencies enhance interagency collaboration for electric vehicle (EV) program planning and implementation. The first resource, “Models for Interagency Collaboration on Electric Vehicle (EV) Infrastructure Programs” highlights examples of successful State Energy Office, State Department of Transportation, and other State agency coordination on EV infrastructure programs through legislative directives, executive orders, and Memorandums of Understanding (MOU). The second resource is a sample MOU between a State Energy Office and State Departments of Transportation regarding the coordination of the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program. The sample MOU is intended to provide guidance to states on suggested language for inclusion in interagency agreements and does not substitute a legal document drafted by qualified legal personnel.

These resources were developed in partnership with the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and supported by the U.S. Joint Office of Energy and Transportation under the NASEO-AASHTO project, Building a National EV Charging Network.
