On June 1, 2023, Governor Henry McMaster (South Carolina-R) and Governor Andy Beshear (Kentucky-D), Co-Chairs of NGA’s Economic Development and Revitalization Task Force, sent a letter to the U.S. Senate and U.S. House Appropriations leadership to support full federal funding for the U.S. State Energy Program and the Weatherization Assistance Program. The letter notes that “these programs are critical tools for the development and implementation of our state and territorial energy strategies and goals and examples of successful state-federal programs.” The task force has jurisdiction over such issues as infrastructure, broadband, energy, environment, land management and taxes.
