U.S. Senate and House WAP Reauthorization Bills Introduced

A bipartisan group of U.S. Senators and U.S. Representatives introduced legislation in both chambers to strengthen and reauthorize the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP), with strong support from NASEO and other partner organizations.  Senators Coons (DE-D), Collins (R-ME), Reed (RI-D), and Shaheen (NH-D) released a joint statement this morning, April 3, 2019.  Representative Tonko (NY-D), Rush (IL-D), and Kaptur (OH-D) co-sponsored the WAP legislation in the House (HR 2041) and joined with colleagues in the Senate to make the announcement.  Representative Tonko said, “America’s weatherization program is more than just a smart investment in energy efficiency that saves money for low-income individuals and families.” A one-page description of the WAP bill and the text of the Senate bill was included in today’s announcement.
