Iowa Releases Strategy to Support Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Development

Last week the Iowa Energy Office released their report “Charging Forward: Iowa’s Opportunities for Electric Vehicle Support.” The report was called for by the State’s Legislature, and was the result of months of stakeholder engagement through a working group between the Iowa Economic Development Authority, Iowa Department of Transportation, and local utilities.

The report examines the current state of EV infrastructure in Iowa, and identifies three key strategies to advance development: 1) clarify and update the state’s policies and procedures; 2) advance planning and development of charging stations; and 3) maximize benefits for Iowa’s consumers. Through the stakeholder process, and research into best practices, the report makes ten key recommendations to provide a path forward for the state’s policymakers and stakeholders.
