States, DOE, NASEO Coordinate on Hurricane Florence Energy Emergency Response

For nearly two weeks, the advance planning and preparations of a number of Southeastern states were called upon to deal with Hurricane Florence.  While the greatest impacts were in North Carolina and South Carolina, many of the other State Energy Offices in the region also coordinated with DOE's Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response (CESER) and NASEO to monitor and assess potential impacts. Once energy system restoration is complete, NASEO will work with the states and DOE to review actions and identify additional opportunities to ensure the data, communications, and assistance provided are most beneficial to the needs of the states and their industry partners.  CESER’s Hurricane Situation Reports provide excellent information about the impact and response efforts.
