Earlier this month, NASEO joined NGA, ECOS, NACAA, and other state-focused national organizations to request comment period extensions for actions by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on two important rules: 1) Emission Guidelines for Greenhouse Gas Emissions From Existing Electric Utility Generating Units or ACE Rule; and 2) The Safer and Affordable Fuel Efficient Vehicles Proposed Rule for Model Years 2021-2026 (CAFE standards). Both pending rules are significant. ACE and CAFE comment letters from NASEO and the other state-focused national organizations simply requested more time for the states to weigh in on these important matters.
