The Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC) is a research institute of the University of Central Florida with more than 40 years of experience in renewable energy and building science. FSEC’s programs are nationally and internationally recognized, and include high performance buildings, solar technologies, hydrogen and fuel cells, electric vehicles, energy systems integration, K-12 and continuing education. Research at FSEC is based on field monitoring, computer simulations and controlled experiments in highly-instrumented laboratories. FSEC is located on UCF’s Cocoa campus, on a 20-acre research complex 35 miles east of the Orlando campus. The 100-member staff includes professionals with expertise in engineering, science, architecture, chemistry, physics, instrumentation, information technology, and education. FSEC typically conducts $6 to $12 million in contracted research each year.
